So the month has come to a close and the entries are all in. Now we have to get started decided on a winner and, for this, we need your help.

This will be a confirmation threads. Here users will confirm the entry they have submitted. I have a list, where I will check off each user as they provide the link to their work. This keeps people from editing their posts in the other threads and claiming that they had put forth an entry when, actually, they didn't.

Users with a definite entry need to provide the accurate link. Here is how you do it.

If the piece is in your profile, go to this page. Here you can search for a specific mp3. Search for your own, click on it, then copy the link and post it here.

If the piece is a guitar pro file, then you need to host it somewhere online. Then, provide the link in your confirmation post.

The reasoning behind this is that I will be compiling a personal list, from your posts, to use in the judging process. Users have one week to confirm their entry. If it is not confirmed then they are disqualified from the competition. This means that you have until midnight GMT on the 27th March.

I will be breaking down the entried into groups. By the looks of things, there will be four groups in total. You can not vote on a group containing your own work. You can vote on the other groups though. The method of judging will be as follows:

Group Name:
Entry 1
Entry 2
Entry 3
Entry 4
Entry 5

As a judge, you will aware three entries points. One entry will receive three points. One will receive two and one shall only receive one. Only three of the five entries will receive posts, so it will look something like this:

Group Name:
Entry 1
Entry 2 - 2pts
Entry 3
Entry 4 - 3pts
Entry 5 - 1pt

From this we will add up the scores at the end of the judging period and the two with the highest score will advance. The other three will not. It's as simple as that.

Anybody can judge within the judging period, as long as it is not their own entry. On the 28th March, the first group will be judged. Likely the period will be short - only a day or two so that we can move on.

Okay everybody, confirm your entries so that we can start compiling. Thank you to everybody who entered, or even to people who worked on a song they couldn't get in. Thank you for making this a very fun experience. If you need any help, don't hesitate to e-mail me at tom.colohue@ultimate-guitar.com

So are you really disqualifying Darrens entry for being 8 minutes late? I mean a day late is one thing, but less then 10 minutes late?
I really hope you were joking about not allowing his entry.
shred is gaudy music

Hmm, can I host the Guitar Pro file in this thread or link to my post in the previous Competition thread?

EDIT:Also, are we going to judge only by awarding points?
Won't we give a small explanation on why we chose them or something? (we'll choose 3 anyways, it's not long or anything)...

If there's a drop out then I'll be asking for his entry. Unfortunately, he's not the only one who was late. I have far too many 'can I enter, I was a bit late, but you'll let me in won't you?' e-mails. I am really sad that he was late with it. I've been looking forward to hearing it, so if there are any openings in the groups as I work them out, his work will be there to fill it. Undoubtedly, there'll be a gap or two.

Gonzaw, I'm going to need to put your piece in a link in one main thread post, so would you be able to host it somewhere I can link to?

I have 2 entries since I couldn't decide if that picture was sunrise or sunset.

Sunset

Sunrise

If I can only use one, than use the Sunrise one.

Well, I don't know anywhere else to host the GP file, but I also don't know how to link a specific post (from the previous thread)

Right. Anybody using a guitar pro file please PM or e-mail the file to me. I will attach it to the judging post when it is being judged.

i've always found pop to be harder to play than metal... especially shred metal... it's just really fast tremolo picking and the occasional palm mute... and the only chords you have to worry about are power chords...

others may not feel the same, but the whole "enter then confirm" system in the contest created a lot of uncertainty.

the entry, either emailed or linked, should serve as the confirmation.

Uncertainty? The piece will be uploaded for a long time on the community page and onto the Musician's Guild front page.

1. I needed time to work things out with ZeGuitarist, the Guild leader, leaving.
2. I needed to know who was likely to leave their work on their profiles.
3. I needed to know who was still actually interested.

If you weren't sure it's not that hard to check the Guild. Failing that, I PMed every single entrant six days before the cut off point. Gonzaw, yours was the only GP entry I received on time. I received four a day late. This is quite laughable. It quite clearly says, in red letters to draw attention, that the shut off is midnight GMT on March the 29th.

The following people did not make it on time, so their entry has had to be disqualified.
Archeo Avis
Colton165

EDIT: The judging has commenced. Due to a linking issue I've decided to host it in only one area. For the First group judging, please click here.

^but Archeos was probably the first entry made.

It is a bit of a farce.

I decided to rerecord it, since I made a huge number of mistakes (recording-wise, that is. My playing was Godlike). I got caught up with a number of other projects and just didn't manage to resubmit on time.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

the uncertainty is not in the outcome of the contest but in the validity of the entries. Two steps, just to enter and stay in the contest, seems redundant.

Indeed I got it. It's being judged as we speak.

You can't argue that the second step was valid. Archeo was in the process of re-recording, so it would have been unusable in the judging. There's one example of the use of it. It went on for so long because I had no internet and Jan decided to leave, which left the competition with no hosts for over a week. Honestly, I think I've done the best I could.

Archeo, no problem. I was sad to see that you didn't get your entry confirmed. I did quite enjoy it. Let me know when you have it re-recorded, I look forward to hearing it.

I also gave xxdarrenxx another shot. I PMed him saying that, since he was such a short time late (likely time spent uploading the work to his profile) I would let him confirm his entry and it could be judged. However, he seemingly decided not to.
