So ive been getting private tuition say for about a month or so prior to that i had only just picked up a guitar .. it just made me think what should i be looking for in a good teacher etc.

Well I stopped taking lessons because my teacher would always show up about 15 minutes late, hungover.

So professionalism is always nice.

But you should look for a teacher who motivates you, structures your practice, is organized, makes you set goals, and can also make it fun (teaches you what you want to learn).

You want someone professional who takes teaching you seriously. They need to be able to communicate ideas to you so that you understand them, and you have to be able to trust that they know what they're talking about.

www.RGT.org is a good place to find out about professional teachers in your area.
