Hey,

I got a standard mexican strat back in late 2003 and it still plays great. I upgraded the pickups to vintage noisless pickups about a years ago and my question is if I wanted to sell the guitar now how much would I be able to get for it? I also noticed that back when I got this guitar the mexicans were selling new from $350-$400 and now they are selling new for anywhere from $450-$500. What's reason for that?

I think with the upgraded pickups you wouldn't have too much trouble getting $400, maybe more.

C'mon, man. We're just kidding. We all know that drummers are important.

After all, without drummers, who would bag my groceries?

upgrades do little for the resale value of instruments. I would imagine... $350, tops. Maybe $400 if you find someone wanting it enough. But it's a buyer's market.

Because they can.

"Yes we can"? >.> or perhaps "Change we can believe in"? No? How's about this: "Hope."

Anyone who doesn't get this should be shot or forced to watch C-Span for hours on end.

don't degrade my Obama... he is a fantastic man who will help to usher in a new age of Americanism... unfortunately, it won't be as drastic as people think it will be, so, no one will notice...

I'm almost afraid to ask how you determined that he is yours
I grew up in Chicago-land and live in Illinois. Thus he is "mine" in the same sense that Rod Blegoyavich, Abraham Lincoln and Richard Daily are "mine." It's just state/city pride, although I'm not always proud of certain things.

My reasoning, assuming it's in desireable condition, is that the prices of a newer Strat have risen recently and while upgrades do little to help the resale value, noiseless pickups are a popular modification for Stratocasters.

But what do I know...?

Just try to sell it for $400 and if you can't get that, then go lower.

EDIT: If you could show me where these $400 MIA Strats are, I'd love to have one.

yeah, I haven't really seen the prices in the used market go up at drastically as the new market. They're about the same as they've been from my perspective. But, I'm not really hunting for a used MIM right now, so, I may not be looking hard enough.

They are all over the place. Check your local guitar store or CraigsList. I bought mine from a local dealer--they original buyer played it for one week and turned it in.

Watch eBay. . .you will see lot's of them over time.

funny... I just checked the Ebay "completed Listings" and $550-600 was the cheapest I saw an MIA strat go for... and for Craigslist, no MIA's under $650...

Please Obama will turn this nation into a socialist welfare state where the American dream no longer exists. The land of opportunity is becoming the land of government regulation and welfare. Take a look at history, it doesn't work.

On a side note. I just bought. 2002 MIM sunburst for 275. It's in great shape and after a DIY setup it plays fantastic.

and do you know what socialism is? It's not the democratic ideal that Obama is pushing for, by a long shot. I love how whenever any politician pushes for helping people out, it instantly becomes socialism... way to go states' rights advocates!

in anycase, lets stop this fussin' and a fuedin' over politics and just keep to the guitars.

in NY almost all the mim strats on CL have upgraded pups and they are all around $300. (you'll get more of a firm price for sunburst or special feature from factory)

$250 if they are completely stock.

the ones listed for $350 just sit there. i see them listed over and over every week.

there's more of a demand for used gear now. in addition, there's a lot of guys selling off gear to pay bills.

so how much you get really depends on your timing and where you put it up for sale.

No, I was making a lot of jokes completely irrelevant to the conversations just being a douche-nozzle, but they one that got me a warning was telling some kid to use his beat-up squier strat to beat a pregnant meth-addict to death. I got banned because it was my second warning. The first was for facing off with a mod
