I'm trying to learn little sister by queens of the stone age and to try and get remotely close to Josh Homme's tone, i decided to find out what pedals he uses. Well I've now discovered that that is nearly impossible. But I've gotten close. In particular I'm stumped on the solo.

I managed to get a good shot of the pedals he hits right before the solo in the video.

He hits both of the pedals shown at the same time. I've found out that the far one is a Klon Centaur. But the one closest to the camera has me stumped.

There's the video so you can hear the solo. It's an odd tone, that's for sure. Any help is appreciated.

These are all the pedals Josh Homme uses, that might narrow it down a bit?
I checked most of of these pedals, but couldn't find it though.
Hmm.

EDIT: I'm late, but I have a longer list, so HA!

DOUBLE-EDIT: Hm, thats weird. I can't find it at all on this list.
Do you think it could be the other guitar players pedal that he just used for
music videos-sake?
The pedal sort of looks boutique to me, but then again it seems like 50% of his pedals are somewhat boutique

lol @ faux.

thanks a lot guys for trying, can anybody maybe take a guess as to what it might be by taking a listen? my knowledge of effects isn't very extensive yet, so I can't do it. I heard somewhere once that it might be a phase shifter, and deftonesordie suggested it might be a compressor.

shaped like a dunlop way huge pedal or a vox satchurator, but knobs are off. and a lot of pedals are like that if you swap out the knobs.
compressor? or maybe that's just the tone haha.

EDIT: I think maybe theres a little bit of phase after listening to it like 10 times. Not too sure what else it could be, unless the first pedal is an OD and the other is an OD too so he switches OD tones or something

EDIT@: yeah maybe I'm right because the Klon centaur is an OD. The second pedal is probably the new OD

ok so you're saying play with one od for most of the song until the solos, then switch to another? i think i could work that...

i agree. the pedal he kicks just sounds like a nasally eq'ed OD to me.

Maybe it's a fuzz pedal?

You can get very close to that sound with the octave switch on a (cheap as hell) Danelectro French Toast fuzz pedal. It's certainly not the pedal in the video though but if you just want to recreate that tone, an octave fuzz is a good starting point.

the french toast seems pretty good, thanks for that mpsya.
i have an old danelectro fab distortion, and i decided to give it a try. its not bad, it adds a bit more of a fuzzy distortion, so in that sense its good, and with the tone turned slightly more towards the treble i can get pretty close with it, so i might end up using that.
