Whatsup UG? I just got back from the Houston Livestock Show and have had four days without the Pit . On my way to Houston I had the misfortue of reading this article in the Business section my local newspaper. I personally thought it was stupid.

Disney's Idea of Fun:

Roller coasters and water slides will have a new competitor for audiences
come springtime at Walt Disney World in Florida. The theme park's operator
and asset management firm T. Rowe Price are teaming up to develop "The Great Piggy Bank Adventure," an interactive educational and entertainment exhibit that will go on display at the Epcot center. The exhibit will offer lessons on setting financial goals, spending and saving smartly, beating inflation and diversification.

I mean, will little kids seriously pick listening to this over riding roller coasters? I don't think so. I think that they're aiming at adults rather children.

Thoughts?

whoever goes to disney world is already:

a) wealthy enough not to care about how much they spend
b) braindead financially

Errr... So kids will now learn how to get financial success and stuff through DISNEY?

Where is the world going?

I'd be willing to bet that half of Disney World's traffic comes from groups at schools and churches. I'm a junior in high school and my band is going on May 7th for the 2nd time in 3 years. Last time, everyone I saw was either a cheerleader or a band member.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools

I'm sick of companies mixing education with fun. You'll get neither educated nor entertained through products concocted by hacks who feed off of parents' and the media's paranoia about the next generation.
Education=education
Fun=fun
Education+Fun=Failtainment

I'd rather ride the Snow White dark ride. And that thing scares the sh*t out of me.
Please excuse my godawful username. I was thirteen.

Epcot Center doesn't have roller coasters anyways. It's their most boring park.

Quoted for emphasis.
Although I though the test track ride was fun.

They might as well give children some kind of foundation in finances, considering that is a HUGE aspect of adult life that is barely mentioned in a child's life until high school, if at all.

I like Epcot better than everything but Magic Kingdom. Sure it lacks big rides, but it's more interesting and the overall atmosphere and feel is better put together than the other parks.

But seriously, if I was a kid with only enough time to visit this financial thing or the sodas of the world exhibit, you know what sugary excusion I'd be taking.

Disney kicks ass.

It's a good idea. People need to be educated about economics, and the earlier, the better. I have reservations about what Disney would teach, though..Probably how using sweatshops is "sensible economics."

MGM Studios > All especially The Animal Kingdom I hated that one so boring.
May the Schwartz be with us! 2012

Q: OK, so do you care about the labels — nastiest, edgiest team in the NFL?

Jim Schwartz: It's better than the alternative — meekest, least aggressive, softest team in the NFL.

"So, Mickey, do you know why your shares are dropping?"
"I don't know Donald, Is it that Mini is stealing all of my money after her divorce?"
"No Mickey, it's a thing called 'recession'. Do you know what Recession is?"
"No I don't Donald, can you please tell me what recession is?"
