ok...hopefully this is the right area, last time i was wrong, anyways i was wondering if anybody had any tips or advice or words of wisdom on writing for drums, this seems to be my biggest problem when it comes to writing songs (i use guitar pro 5.2 with that real sound engine thing until i get some real recording equipment) i cant seem to get great drum beats going, typically my drums just kind of match what the guitar is doing and only comes off as alright....any tips?

Eighth note hi-hats

Snare drum on 2 and 4

Stick the kick drum in on the one, and then wherever it's needed to back up what the guitar/bass is doing

Put in some ghost notes (off-beat snare strokes) if you feel like getting funky.

Look up drum tabs of songs you dig and rip the rhythms off.
