A Jackson SL2h is on the way for me and it comes with a SD TB4 pickup in the bridge. The ONLY modification to this guitar I was thinking of doing was switching that out for a DiMarzio X2n.

I've seen and heard what the X2N can do and it's got balls for metal. Awesome. AND it was used by probably one of my favorite guitarists of all time Chuck Schuldiner who's tone imo was off the hook.

BUT I still actually don't know all too much about the SD TB4 but I've heard it's really high gain and is very versatile.

I play mainly thrash, death, black, and even groove metal from time to time.

Just wait until you play the guitar and then figure out if you want to put new pickups in. You just might surprise yourself and like the TB4s
First question the player, then question the gear

chuck is one of my favorite guitarist too, but why dont you leave the pick up in the jackson for now, give it a chance then listen to wat you`re missing from it, imho the x2n is kinda nasty, its also muddy, after you tried out the duncan to fullest if you feel like you missing something then post back here for advice , etc. nice taste in guitars btw , would love to own one

Still kind of didn't get an answer that I understood lol.

Also if it's muddy then how did Chuck get that KILLER tone out of em?

Probably had to do with the rest of his rig but w/e.

no, don't get the JB.

If anything, get the TB-6. Higher output, sounds better, IMO

You know, some of the other guitarists in Death used Duncan JBs... And work with the EQ on your amp for clarity if you do decide to go with the X2N (which Chuck always said was the key component in his sound). You can't use too much gain with that pickup, or it WILL turn to mud. It was made to overdrive an amp.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"
