I have been playing the guitar for a while now (acoustic mainly) and I want to have a crack at bass.

I am in the process of negotiating with a mate for an epiphone sg bass, could anyone recommend a good practice amp that would suit the sg?

If you're just going to be mucking around, anything cheap will do.

If you're planning on upgrading from the sg in the future, the get a better amp now, Acoustic, Warwick and Ashdown all make good amps in the 150-250 watt range.

Pretty much this.

Also, is an Eb-3 or an EB-0, cause if its the latter, welcome to the land of mud.

It is an EB-0 yes, are they any good? The only reason I'm going for one of these is that I can get it off a mate for a very good price

I love my fender rumble 15 but I would recomend getting a 30 watt instead just because they sound a little better and are good enough for jamming with a couple buddies and not being over powered to much.
