im actually really liking music maker. i got it for christmas and its not half bad. Sony Acid is great too if you have the money.

Cubase.. Well, you can just download it, honestly.. Even though it's not nice.

You can do almost anything with it, and it is alot more simple than stuff like Pro Tools (Which i think is a pain in the ass).

Cubase all the way!
