edit: Thanks for all the responses. I totally agree with alot of you that cost doesn't matter when you talk about quality of sound or what makes you happy. I was just curious as to how much some of you have spent. Personally my all-time goals are a nice les paul (got it), decent strat, decent tele, and maybe one more amp for versatility + all pedals and stuff. I also really wouldn't mind having a gibson hummingbird

Who's got it. Name your gear and what its worth.

I'd say I have an average gigging musicians set up.The quality is enough to get a good live tone but I wouldn't begin to say it's approaching professional.

Peavey JSX combo - $1550 ( I paid $900 for it though)
Jackson DK2S - $750
Fernandes 7 string - $100 (no idea what the original price was,but It plays/sounds great)
Warmoth Soloist w/ DiMarzio pups -$1100
Carbon copy delay pedal - $130
Boss Ge-7 EQ pedal (used as a booster) - $50

I really need to get a nice pedal board set up and get myself a high quality 7 string to go with the fernandes......damn GAS.

If you want to see crazy collections of expensive gear, do some googling for Les Paul and Strat forums. People love LPs and Strats.

Like the collectors that have over 100+ variations of the same model and so on.I can understand liking a certain guitar, but that's a little much, especially when you consider the price and the fact that they most likely don't get played much.

As said by others, it's not about how much money you spend, what matters is that you like the stuff that you have.

With that being said, I probably could have bought a pretty nice car for the money I spent on gear...

MusicMan Axis Super Sport Rosewood - $1k (about $1650 new I believe)
HighOrder Custom pickup set - $150
Fargen Olde 800 1x12 (soon to be 2x12) Combo - $995 (about $1800 new)

Gear I still own:
  • Gibson Custom Shop 1959 VOS Historic Reissue Les Paul in Iced Tea = £3200
  • Epiphone Joe Perry Boneyard Les Paul = £800 (though the newer Chinese ones are only £550)
  • Rally GL-450 LP = £280, I think it was + two Swineshead wood pickups at £70 each, £420 total
  • Warmoth Telecaster build = can't remember the exact cost but it was around £950 with all the shipping
  • Wesley acoustic of some kind = I think it was £32
  • Epiphone LP Junior = £80 for the initial guitar, modded and refinished it a bunch, probably spent another £150 or so on it over the years.
  • Tanglewood acoustic of some kind = I think it was £140.
  • Digitech Clapton Crossroads mutli-FX pedal = er, £80 I think
  • Digitech HardWire TL-2 Metal Distortion = £86
  • Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive/Distortion = £47
  • BOSS DS-1 = £38
  • BOSS SD-1 = £43
  • BOSS GE-7 = £72
  • BOSS DD-7 = £118
  • EHX Micro Pog = £152
  • Dunlop Cry Baby Wah = £67
  • Dunlop Brick Power Supply = £105
  • Couple of Dunlop slides = they're about £15 each, so let's say £30.
  • Fender Super Champ XD = £220
  • Cables = uh, about £70 total
  • Picks = seriously I've spent about £80 on picks.
  • Stands = £40
  • Straps/straplocks = £14 on every guitar for locks, two straps that were £27 and £22, £147 total (not including locks put on guitars I've resold).

Total: £7167

Gear I have previously owned:
  • Epiphone G-400 LE White = £360, I think
  • Epiphone Dot Studio = £212
  • Ibanez RG321MH = £240
  • Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster = £305
  • Fender Aerodyne J-Bass = £620
  • Digitech Bass Driver = £70
  • Dunlop Cry Baby Wah (I broke one) = £67
  • Fender Bullet 150 (my crappy starter amp) = £112
  • Stetsbar = £215
  • +those surprisingly expensive straplocks = £70

Total: £2271

Grand total: £9438.
Though I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things. That's about $13600, FYI. It would be many more $'s but the current exchange rate has of course gone right down the ****ter. On the old exchange rate as it was when I actually bought most of this stuff, it would have been about $17000.

My total is a fair bit lower because usually I borrow amps off friends.

I am currently looking to spend around another £1000 on a new guitar and also another grand or so on a proper amp rig of my own.

EDIT: whelp, looking through I think that means I've just about spent the most so far.

... I really should actually spend my money on more important things, but... guitars are pretty

All my gear isn't in my sig. It's only the gear I use on a regular basis.

Anyways,

Gibson Les Paul 1958 VOS Reissue - $4000
Rickenbacker 370/12 - got it for about $3000
Martin D-28 - $2300
Ralph Bown (Great luthier located in the UK) Custom Acoustic Guitar - $6710 (£4600)
Stefan Sobell 6 String Acoustic Archtop (Also a magnificient luthier also in the UK) - Don't remember the exact price, but it was a lot. The number £7200 pops into my head, which is according to a currency calculator about $10,500
I have a 1969 Guild Guitar Mark II which was $250 at the time I got it appraised and it would be about $800 now if it weren't for the wear and tear, so it's $600.
Squier Stratocaster SE-100 + Squier SP-10- $250
Marshall Bluesbreaker - $2300
Roland JC-120 - 900
Polytone MiniBrute II - $750
2x Thomas Organ Vintage Wah Pedal - got it for $150 each=$300
Boss Digital Delay DD-6 - I think it was about $150 as well
Boss Metal Zone MT-2 Pedal (my first distortion pedal I stopped using 2 years ago): $88
Gibson Vintage 70's Double Black T-Top Pickup (interestingly belonged to Ace Frehley and signed by THE Seymour Duncan): $200

I think that's about it...
Total: $32048
