okay, so I wrote a really long blog for you guys today to talk about something and I think at least some of you will take it seriously and respect it. I expect typical pit monkeys, but I know some of you are good. I'm just posting this to share.

I put an excerpt, but please go to the blog - theres photos to go with the rest of the story

There is a reason I deem myself UG's medical miracle.

I was born with a fatal illness, called Cystic Fibrosis, short for CF. It is an illness that affects the lungs, and the pancreas.

I was diagnosed with it at 14 months old and spent many months in the hospital.

After that, I lived until I was 8 years old, struggling with yearly hospital visits and surgeries and whatnot. I was put on the list for a double lung transplant, as I only had a short while to live.

When it starts giving me problems, I'll give it something nicer, but I'll probably have a new guitar by then.

Good luck.

And not to be rude or anything, but how is Cystic Fibrosis short for CF?

Either way, stay strong!

My apologies, supposed to be the opposite.

That is great for you and I truly feel its awesome that you lived through that , but honestly this really annoys me. Why else would you put this up here other than for a cry for attention. Like it is great and everything that you lived, but hundreds of others have probably done the same probably even more.

Actually this illness is a massive killer, a lot of people don't make it past 16 as far as i'm aware. I'm happy that you are ok TS.

You have dyslexia too?

I'm only kidding, in all seriousness, it's good to hear of such an amazing recovery, or such an awesome defeat of Cystic Fibrosis, I hope things turn out well for you

I was born with a balanced translocation (translocated imbalance?) or something like that. I should be mutated or something, but I'm not.

That's great, but that was a truly shameless blog plug. Would it really have been hard to put the story text in and say "More info on my blog"?
The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup,
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns...

He probably just felt like sharing his story with the group of people he loves. Not everything is done for the sake of attention.

Good one, congrats on the recovery. I expect to see you in the next ten years touring the hell out of the world. That or see you seeing as I'll be doing the same.

I can relate abit except no miracle here. I ended up with 75% lung damage but is now around 80% due to an illness i caught that got worse when i was three. Long story short or 'Tl;dr' it was basically the hospitals fault since they put me into a ward full of lung diseased patients when i was still very ill and caught another infection which made the damage that much worse.
Basically they've got me on the non active transplant list, i'll be reffered to newcastle hospital whenever my doctor decides things are getting worse which was what they reccomened rather than go through the tests there so now i get them done here.

In real terms it means i gotta use an electric wheelchair to go any reasonable distance , i.e going to the shops or whatever. I can get around the house okay but after that i get really out of breath and as you can imagine at secondary school all the chav bastards used to take the living piss out of the sight of somebody who walks through a classroom door after leaving a wheelchair outside...

I dunno why i wrote all this actually, it's not my thread come to think of it xD anyway man i'm very happy for you and i wish you all the best. Take care

As for my user title, I put that there because this thread is only going to last a day, if not less. the title will always be there - just like many who have UG's something or something else as their title.

As for saying it's a blog thing, I've never even made a blog here before, i didn't want to fill the thread with huge pictures.

As for asking for attention, I just felt sharing the story because it seems to touch a lot of people when I tell it. thanks for the positive responces
