I've been looking for 8-string hardware for a new guitar, but am having some trouble finding it. I know that EMG makes 8-string pickups, and so does Lundgren (I'm not ready to spend $300 on each pickup though). However, I just can't seem to find 8-string bridges. Could anyone help me out?

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Hipshot? Alright, I'll check them out. Thanks.
However, I'd like to try a piezo thing with it though, I think it'd be interesting with such a wide range of notes.

Individual saddles are the best idea.

You might want to hold off for a bit. I believe Kahler is working on an 8 string bridge.

Hipshot do 8 string bridges,

graph tech will sell you replacement piezo saddles

ABM make individual bridges but they are f**king expensive.

Yeah, I was afraid that if I wanted to get a piezo pickup in the bridge I'd have to spend a lot of money/time either getting it made or doing it myself...

PIezos are pretty pricey no matter what bridge they're in... usually about a 100% price difference between the standard ones.

Well, it's a pricey project already before hardware, I have access to any tools I could ever need for it, but I'm still planning on using higher quality woods (ebony fingerboard, for instance). I just don't want to end up spending $400 on a bridge. It'll be pretty sad if I spend more on hardware than I do wood.

You'll pretty much always spend more on hardware than wood, at least if you are buying decent products.

I think I might have seen someone use a bass pickup in 8 string guitar. I might be wrong though.

Makes sense really, most active bass pickups have rails so string spacing wouldn't be a problem and i'd imagine the actual length from low to high string would be similar to that of a 5 or 6 string bass.
