as you may know, i dont use an amp, just a line 6 pod xt modeller into monitors. i was thinking a bit down the road to modify my squier by taking out the middle pickup and putting an EMG single coil in the neck and an EMG 85 in the bridge. although i am aware that modellers tend to not react to a pickup change like a t00bz amp would, but i would like to do this for a couple reasons:

- less noise (i wind up using LOTS of noise gating on my patches and it makes them sound a bit weaker)

-ive heard that EMG actives tend to neutralize the wood quality of a guitar, and since its a squier this would be a good thing, the sh1tty wood won't affect my sound too much

-heavier output coming out of the guitar will make the pod sound more br00t4lz

-when i get a tube amp in the future, i wont really need to worry about upgrading guitars or anything, and the pickups will push the tubes into UNLEASHING THE SONIC FURY

so what do you guys think? the reason i said i should take out the middle pickup is because i never use it, and since i dont want to have a mix of actives and passives in the guitar, i would have to spend money on another pickup if i wanted this

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

No. It would not be a good investment. There are tons of ways to make squiers sound brutal, and that is not one. A higher output passive set would be a much better idea.

hmmm, the only thing is that i thought that the low quality alder would ruin the sound of the guitar if it had responsive, dynamic passive pickups. idk, i'll probably need to talk to someone whos had experience modding cheap guitars, see what they think. do you happen to know anyone on this forum who would know?
