He's a normal person

With a lot of imagination and originality

That's the point of being a musician.

Brian Carroll. From what I've piced together, he was deathly stagefrigt and didn't want the media spamming his ass. So, if he wears a mask, this solves this.

I hate Buckethead's music, but I respect him even though the whole retarded get up he is in kinda makes it hard.

Nevermind I don't, he is just retarded.

I know that something called "an opinion" exists, but seriously.

First, judging a guitarist like this is the most retarded thing to do.

He isn't retarded, and most people who just say his music sucks only know the so stereotyped song Jordan with the big solo thingy and nottingham lace maybe.

I mean come on, he's one of the only guitarists doing original stuff these days and people just call him retarded?

To be honest, I have listened to his stuff without anyone's opinion influencing me. No one I know listens to him. If they do they don't talk about him. I just hate his style and on top of that he dresses like a giant retard.

To answer your question, yes. There is plenty of bands doing original stuff that sounds great. You just have to look for it.

I see. Well that's still stereotyping someone because of it's look...

But on top of that, it's just acting. Well actualy, from what I know, he has this disease that the kid in the movie "Haloween" had, he loves to wear masks and stuff and from that disease, he got the idea to create that character.

Otherwise, buckethead has a lot of beautiful songs seriously. No one I know listens to him too, except someone that surprisely told me he knew (and liked) buckethead too... Didn't expect that from that someone.

And those bands doing original stuff are mostly about metal... Buckethead has a metal-ish side too, but it isn't the same thing as the metal of these days.

This

I wasn't talking about metal artists. I meant anyone really. Acoustic, rock, progressive, etc...To be honest I don't see how metal is original anymore, even though I like it.

It isn't really stereotyping either. I said he looks retarded. Maybe I should reword it, but that is what it should be interpreted as.

Buckethead is Brain Carroll, he was taught by Paul Gilbert and raised by his 1 father on the farm, he spent most of his time in the Chicken coop which for some reason had an electric out put and he played through a Jackson Dinkey and a Rock Man amp. i think it was a half set, im pretty sure it wasent a combo. Buckethead now writes music while watching porn in the chicken coop while playing guitar. he is NOT paul gilbert

I usually just use last.fm. I put in artists I like and I usually go from there with the related artists. A lot of the not so big bands are beast. Occasionally some popular-ish bands pop up, like The Mars Volta. Whatever they would be classified as. Then sadly because I have no money I use torrents. I would rather buy cds though.

I see... Well, sounds good, I'll try it.

But it's still hard to find hard rock songs that are similar to the 80s and stuff.

Underneath Buckethead's bucket is another bucket. Under his mask is another mask. Why you ask? Well that's simple. He is a fucking lunatic.

True. Some bands like Black Stone Cherry have a classic rock feel though. I know it's not the same as the 80s, but still.

Meh, I like Buckethead. I love the way there are loads of conspiracy theories about who he is. It's like a great mystery and people just cannot rest until he has been unmasked! Brian Carroll? Pfffft! Surely everyone knows that's a government cover-up. His true identity has often been filmed on shakey home video footage

He may, but I still do not care for his style. Just because someone plays a genre I like, doesn't mean I like them. Kinda like how I hate Radiohead, but like Muse.

My personal theory:

Brian Patrick Carroll,[1] better known as Buckethead, is an American musician and songwriter.[1] He has released 25 solo albums and performed on over 50 more. He has also made guest appearances on more than 40 different albums by various artists. His music spans such diverse areas as progressive metal, thrash metal, funk, electronica, jazz, bluegrass, and avant-garde music.

Yeah.
