Hey, I'm trying to get into my school's jazz band next year. The thing is, I'm very unfamiliar with jazz chords. I think I could improv a jazz solo, but Im pretty terrible with chords considering I used to listen to a lot of metal. I basically just played power chords haha. Does anyone have any idea on what the teacher might test me on?

Get a Real Book and start practicing. And if you can, get a chord book and learn 7 chords and all their variations.

there are some good chord websites, if you don't want to spend the money, but i suggest getting a chord book and learning all the different kinds of chords (well, maybe not ALL, but the important ones)
