I'm starting to build pedals. After a few, I'd like to try making an amp.
Could you recommend me any? (anything, including kits and whatnot)

It has to be: not too complicated, not possibly lethal. I don't wanna die because of some stupid mistake. I love life too much for that
Another question: Tube amp = possibly lethal?

I heard of the Ruby amp...any others?

Forget genres, the real conflict is in the subgenres.

Ok so tube=no for me...at least for now.
Would something like the Tube Cricket be lethal? It has one tube, for pre-amp. http://www.olcircuits.com/olc_tubecricket.html

Which non-tube amps could build?

^ Not lethat but definitely nothing special.

Dealing with with HV tube amps can be totally safe, learn about electricity. Then dont fear it, respect it.

+1 to you

Check out www.AX84.com, but maybe save those amp builds for later. Maybe you could try a ruby or gem for now.

So I guess I try out a Ruby and a Gem, then a Tube Cricket (to get experience with tubes, I guess. Or just for some more experience). Read a lot about electrecity and tube amp making. Eventually try my hand at making one!

Any good books/websites to suggest to learn everything I need to know in order to build an amp?

I already suggested a great resource for building a tube amp/learning the way they work. That is www.ax84.com

For some fun and useful tube experience try building a vavlecaster. It is a tube driven overdrive run off a 9v battery:

That, I shall do
