Hey guys, so I was invited by a friend's mum to a suprise party on saturday.
The guy's turning 14 and he's like 2/3 grades lower than me in school(repeated a year I think).

Anyway, I feel like I HAVE to go because:
a) I already bought him a present (GNR Tshirt)
b) He's a good frend and a good guy and it would be inpolite if I don't show up.

Problem: I don't know what kind of party it's going to be, but I know that it starts around 5-6pm and this makes me face 3 problems:

a) some of the people from his class are really annoying little pr'cks and I do not want to spend time witht hem, he usually woudn' invite these peole but his parents are organising it so I guess hey invited them

b) I would be the oldest one there (I think)

c) I have a few mates who are going out to a nightclub and I want to join them (I don't know what time the party ends, probably late).

Now I am definitly going to the party but I want to leave early (before 7-8 PM), what should I tell the guy and what would you do in my case?

Edit: any good excuses on why I (would) have to leave earlier?

Just go and enjoy it and when you leave tell them you'd already arranged something that you can't get out of. They should understand that you don't want to be hanging around all night with kids a lot younger than you.

Just say you have to get going, they don't need to pry. They should just be thankful that you showed up and brought a gift.
#5
Go, give him his present, chill for a while - you might even start to enjoy it - but if not then make up some excuse and leave early and go do whatever else you were gonna do.

You're going to a nightclub at 7/8?

Stay there get drunk with the kids then go out to the club at around 11ish. It's the responsible thing to do.

This is wisdom. Why the hell would you go to a nightclub that early? There's a clue in word nightclub.

I don't understand.

What's "2/3 grade" mean?

It sounds to me like you don't wanna have to sacrifice your night to be a good friend. Well, if that's the case, show up late, then shout SURPRISE as you're leaving. Dick.

Just go for a few hours. Then scream that you raped a bulldog and leave. Then go straight to the nightclub.

He didn't say he was going to the nightclub at 7/8 he just wanted to leave at 7/8. What if he wants to go home, shower, go with his buddies, blaze it a bit, and THEN go to the nightclub

If female...que a lot of profile hits.

On topic, kill two birds with one stone. Go for a bit and then leave to 'actually' party. He's 14?? Dear me, lots of coca cola and sausage rolls at the party then?

No I meant, I want to go to a nightclub around 10-11 but the party might be that long PLUS I know that this class has some big age differences and I don't think I want to stay for mre than 2 hours. (and there won't be alcohol )

I'm 16 he' turning 14.
I live in Hungary: smoking is (not legal) "accepted" at the age of 14, alcohol at 16 and nightclubs 16 aswell BUT people here don't care so a 13 year old coud do all those things.

And I'm a guy, and my plan is to show up because the guy's a friend of mine, I don't want to spend more than one or two hours with a group of people who's ages vary from 13 to 15.

exactly, it's not really my scene, having a bunch of 14 y/o girls asking me some boring questions. I want hot chicks and alcohol!!!!

plus, given the fact that his parents are aranging it, I don't think there will be anything fun there.

Oh and did I mention that most of the invited people are FRENCH??

well most things are like in the rest of the world:

21 - casino
16 - "weak" alcohol
18 - "strong" alcohol
18 - smoking

but people simply don't care, if there IS someone who says no to giving you alcohol you give him 5 dollars and PROBLEM SOLVED.

I hear you man. I have been in similar circumstances. Its unfortunate this isnt just a party, its his 'birthday party'. Not only that its a surprise as well. I suppose out of respect turn up. Make your excuses and then leave.

Also try and summon an excuse from a buddy? Make someone call you and then skidaddle

EDIT: JJlane86 said the 'secret excuse' first!

go to the party then like you said you like the guy and think hes alright invite him to come out with you and your other mates, that way if he says yes problem solved and if he says no then im sure he wont have to much of a problem with it, so when you turn up say happy birthday and what not then turn round and say "hey ive been invited out to a club tonight and was wondering if you wanted to join us and have a few birthday drinks"

just a suggestion

Your friend calls you threatening suicide. You leave to console him. This consolence comes in the form of a "hey whats up dude ready to hit the clubs?". If someone asks, make sure you tell them the name of someone you dont like who threatened suicide, so then he can be taken away to a home.

i didn't read the original post, but if it's a choice between partying or not, i would go and party

EDIT: read the post, just say you've got an early morning the next day and need to get going
