How can i create sweet metal solo's/ riffs using guitar scales?

I'm not the best at the lead parts, but i'm trying to get better. I'm trying to write my own songs, but their not going so well.

Start transcribing the type of things you want to write

That comes before the crusade articles and anything other then basic theory

You want someone to begin transcribing music before they know the major scale?

lol +1.

major scale, and learn keys/circle of fifths 1st off.

then go from there.

when i learned intervals and triads, i wouldnt have been able to do it if it wasn't for my knowledge of the major scale.

i've always found pop to be harder to play than metal... especially shred metal... it's just really fast tremolo picking and the occasional palm mute... and the only chords you have to worry about are power chords...

If TS doesn't know how to make an arpeggio, than I seriously doubt they are ready to start transcribing music. No offense TS.
