So I usually just use the normal string gauge for E standard which is what I usually play in. They also work fine in D standard. But I'm playing with a band that plays in dropped B tuning. So what gauge string should I buy that would work well in dropped B but also would be fine for D or E standard for when I wanna tune back up? Also a particular brand would be nice to know. Thanks guys.

12s would probably be the best but it might be a bit tight if you try to tune back up to standard. The brand choice is really all preference. I would say get DRs but plenty of other people are going to recommend Ernie Balls and D'addario as well so just try out some and see what you like.
