aight i have a small problem here

my brother ordered a 5150 combo off craigslist and recieved it. through shipping, one of the 6l6 power tubes was broken, leaving 1 left. does the amp need to be re biased and re tubed before it is playable? or can it just run on one power tube at half power like some other amps?

thanks

First of all, you make it seem like he ordered it from a store, Craigslist isn't a store.

No, you cannot let it run on one tube, if it was the head version, you would've been able to pull the other matched one and done that.

Tell him to tell the guy he bought it from to reimburse him for the cost of new tubes, it's his fault he packed it poorly and didn't take the tubes out beforehand.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

ok, so it needs new tubes. can the power tubes only be replaced? and will it need a bias.

If the preamp tubes aren't broken, you don't need to replace them.

Both power tubes should be replaced. You do not need to bias it, as you can't bias the 5150 unless it's been modded to do so.

SED =C= 6L6s are my favorite, but JJs work very well in Peaveys too.
