I was wondering if it was possible to put a coil tap in a HSS Strat, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff, would it cost much to get somebody to do?

the humbucker most likely doesnt have 4 conductore wiring so your need to replace it once youve done that like £30 for a tech to do it all i guess

Now this is where you really do need to have your terminology right.

A coil tap is a feature where you lower the output of a singlecoil pickup.
A coil split is where you cut out one of the coils of a humbucker pickup to make it sound a bit more like a singlecoil.

Since the guitar you're talking about has both humbuckers and singlecoils, either is possible. Which is it you're after?
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

I want to be able to switch from the humbucker to the single coil sound, just increasing the versatility of the strat even further.

Your gonna have to buy a humbucker that has 4 wire conducter. If you like the buckerin it now, just find something cheap. GFS sells cheap humbuckers or go for rockfield. But if you don't have a budget, it can get you a better sound.
