I think I agree with what slash4114 was trying to get at. We didn't say one thousand ninehundred and something, so I reckon we say twenty ten. That's what I'm doing anywho

20 10. Anyone who says 2000 10 is adding a syllable and awkwardness.

I say next year. Cause it is next year, so we should all say next year. Next year is only 2 syllables and twen-ty ten is 3. That sayes you a whole syllable. Or two-thou-sand ten is 4!!!!!!!! I think we should just say next year. It will help you in the long run.

I won't refere to the year under any name.
I have no reason to talk about the year. If someone asks me the year, I shall mock them for not knowing, and walk away.

Maybe it's just be, but who cares what year it is?

Makes sence, every day seems like I've already lived it.

Infact, I've already posted in this thread. At the end, I own you all, and we go live in the forest where I keep you locked up in my shed, until you horibly die of my innacurate spelling and tendancy to kill.

It's been a long day.

Two thousand and ten.

If I chose the other option it would beg the question "why aren't we calling this year 'twenty o' nine'?"

Because I'm not Irish? I usually just call it oh-nine, and leave off the 20. We all know what century somebody means, and if they mean another they specify 1909.

I'd use both, but twenty-ten is easier to say than two thousand and ten.

I wonder how the highschoolers would be affected by 2010 when they graduate though, because when I graduated we referred to our class as class of 08(oh eight). In 2010 they are probably gonna be what, class of ten?

We're already saying it wrong, so I imagine the pattern will continue.

2000 = Two thousand (correct)
2001 = Twenty Oh One
2002 = Twenty Oh Two
2003 = Twenty Oh Three
2010 = Twenty Ten

We've pronounced the last decade incorrectly, besides 2000, if we follow the pattern we've used for the last 1000 years. Unless we know what was said from 1901-1909, the pronunciation for the first decade in a thousand set is un-determinable. However, following pattern, it should in fact be Twenty Ten, with that pattern continuing for the next thousand years. Just imagine in 2762, saying "Two thousand seven hundred sixty two." That's ridiculous. I only took the time to post this because the way people have been pronouncing the years recently has really been pissing me off. I hate it that it does.
