Right, basically when i play guitar through my new 2x12 cab if i turn the volume up to a reasonable level i.e not ear splittingly loud or anything maxed out, i get a buzzing sound from the speakers that is annoying that sounds like the speakers are struggling or distorting themselves abit from the sound, it's definatly not distortion from the amp head, i have a tube amp head and i know the difference between that distortion and this and this happens even on low gain clean settings.

Any ideas ?

Do you have another cab to rule out the head. May have gotten a bad speaker since you say it's new.

Try the head with a different cab on the same EQ to make sure it is definitely the speaker.

Check to make sure the speakercone isn't ripped/damaged? turn the bass down?

Coil could be shot. In fact, that's most likely it. Is suggest taking it down to your local tech and have him put it through his tone generator just to be sure.

Wow, so it is. Did you ever actually find the problem, Zoot?

Less bass.

I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Man what's this thread doing here. It turned out the bias was wrong , if i remember , all is well now :S

Yeah, if i remember like i say it was a biasing problem of some kind, although maybe it was tubes because the amp was new and i biased it as i replaced them shortly after and at this point the problem was solved, so i guess it could have been either of those things potentially. I believe that this could have been 'crossover distortion' from the amp being biased too coldly right?

Although i guess it could have been something as simple as a loose screw somewhere too.

Edit: This thread was made during my 'mids all the way up' phase actually >.>
