Hey fappers. I was noticing that I cant really play any of the songs that I like and keep anyone entertained without singing them because most rock songs today carry the same chord progressions and tempos for the verses and the same progressions and tempos for the choruses. Just starts to sound boring after about 30 seconds of the same thing. I think I need to learn some cool instrumentals but I dont wanna start out on anything too insane. Maybe more or less along the lines of "Jordan" or "This is Halloween" by Buckethead. Any suggestions?

Hell's Kitchen - Dream Theater.

Not very hard, and sounds great.

You could do one of the 2349723497 insanely hard Dream Theater instrumentals, as well.

Man Made God by In Flames is really, really easy and cool, there's also a the whole perpetual burn album by Jason Becker, but that's really hard stuff, and also some Malmsteen can never go wrong...

The Crying Machine - Steve Vai

Nice, relatively easy and just plain awesome.

Also you can't go wrong with Satch. ANY Satch song.

Maybe some transposed classical songs, like Fur Elise or something along those lines. People recognise them and therefore like them, if you do them well.

that would require neo-classical shredding.

Haha just so future poster's know, I can't shred yet. I just now got into the art of shredding.

Not really, fingerpicking > shredding fur elise.

Overture 1928 by Dream Theatre is really fun to play. There are a few fast shreddy bits, but they're surrounded by easy melodic bits so once you have them down it's pretty easy.

Lamb of God stuff sounds great when played on guitar. Of course you realize you're gonna get some pretty biased answers since this is a guitar site and a lot of people here like a lot of stuff that people wouldn't take two looks at.

Lots of non-musicians couldn't care less if you can sweep pick, but if you can play smells like teen spirit you're god. All depends on your audience.

YYZ - Rush (Probably wouldn't sound as good with only a guitar)

To Live Is To Die/Orion/The Call of Ktulu - Metallica, these might atleast be familiar to someone.

But as BeastlyBassist says, it's all about your audience.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
