Starting this again cause it seems to have disappeared? And everyone needs a place to discuss funk.

Nils Landgren Funk Unit

Handn't hear these guys before, but they're good. Their album 'licnse to funk' has ray parker junior (yes, of ghostbusters but also an amazing guitars, played with rufus, chaka khan, stevier wonder and so on and so on and so on!) on it, which is just ace.

who knew the swedes could do funk?

Can you recommend me to a few good Funkadelic albums? I'm intrigued by that song.
Only play what you hear. If you don’t hear anything, don’t play anything.

Gotta love sly.

Jamiroquai when they had stuart zender as a bassplayer have to be mentioned for the sheer excelence of zender's bass playing.

How have I not found this thread before

Funk is really great, I find myself always going on LastFM and just cruising the Funk station throughout most nights.
Some people like cupcakes exclusively, while myself, I say there is naught nor ought there be nothing so exalted on the face of God's grey Earth as that prince of foods:

Going to see Galactic tonight for free, it's gonna be awesome. I haven't caught them since November of 2007, hopefully they won't be touring with rap artists this time around.

^ Soooo lucky! I definitly prefer them without rappers, but they kick major ass with Chali 2na.

They had a trombone player on with most of their songs, and he also rapped on the song From The Corner To Block but that was it. Pretty good show and I managed to get a setlist.

I think I'm going to see Galactic in Chicago in April. I'm excited, it should be a blast. I really like their older stuff, but after giving Ya-Ka-May a few more listens, it has most definitly grown on me. What are your guys thoughts?
