I have a guitar thats painted and I asked my dad that i should use to clean the body and he said just regular wood cleaner like old english. Will that mess with the paint or should i use alcohol or something else i could find around the house. Im not interested in buying an guitar polishes right now so...

A duster and some elbow grease should get the job done

yeah, i wouldn't use any of those things. get a really soft cotton shirt or something, get it damp, then just gently rub away the dirt or whatever in the same direction the whole time. dry it with another soft cotton shirt. use it for my schecters all the time because i'm cheap and it's fine.
