^your Icon does not match your name.

They are very nice dudes, I met'em when I played with them.

Mahogany is nice, Basswood has more mid punch, Korina's like Mahogany but lighter in weight, maple's got high end.

SEARCHBAR would probably does work well, too.

seriously, TS, You're a nub but it's not that hard.

And I hope you don't regret your username.

I'd say go for either Mahgany or Alder, 'cause alot of the big companies like Jackson and Dean use those woods, and there perfect guitars for metal

There's different qualities of woods. Basswood is not just cheap wood. There are very good quality pieces of basswood that are used in very high end guitars, specifically Prestige Ibanez's. Just like Alder is used in some very high end guitars and then used in cheap Squier's and low/mid-range guitars.

Wow, those are some low-budget guitars right there...
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

you should obviously use the mahogany from your grandfather's coffin. that would be totally metal. just ask your mom first.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

It depends on the sound you're looking for:
Alder tends to have really nice high-frequency response. Lots of treble without being harsh.

Mahogany, on the other hand, can be smooth, has amazing bass/mid response (usually great when it comes to soloing), and it gets a really nice les-paul-ey sound, (probably due to the fact that les pauls /are/ mahogany.... and maple)

Alder is /much/ cheaper than mahogany, usually. Occasionally you find great deals. Both are amazing sounding woods, though.

My opinion is the mahogany, but that's just because I love the fat sound it gives instruments.
