So will grunge just go under punk? Because I really want some grungey songs to learn; mostly Nirvana, mostly because I like the catchiness, and Krist seems to have a knack for cool uses of slides.
#82
I had grunge under hard rock.

and for catchy grunge, I'm saying Would? by Alice In Chains.

it's an amazing little riff they have for that intro.

3 jokes in 4 days?

come on.

you guys are terrible. it appears only 3 of you want any new songs. fine by me less work.

if I don't get the other 2 before Monday, it's gonna be a while before I consider it again.

and drummers? all about the horn section.

example (does not count):
Why is the French horn a divine instrument?
Because a man blows in it, but only God knows what comes out of it.

or, bassists!(this doesn't count either):
So 2 bass players walk past a bar... hey! it could happen!

Just listened to it and looked at the tab, and I'm gonna have to give it a definite hell YEAH!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok--I'm game two jokes

Mr. Tam's favorite drummers joke:

"Hey buddy, how late does the band play?"
"Oh, about a half beat behind the drummer."

How is a drum solo like a sneeze?
You can tell it's coming, but you can't do anything about it.

And here's one I've never heard before last night...

What is another term for fretless bass?
A manually-operated Pitch Approximator.

Great thread, the old list was very poorly organised and a bit useless.

I would suggest however, that you add an "indie/art rock" genre, as at the moment bands from that area would have to be associated with pop or alternative/prog (which isn't fair on say, The Strokes or Arcade Fire).
"I hope I die before I get old"-Words of Pete Townsend, 1945-

"I hope I die before I turn into Pete Townsend"-Words of Kurt Cobain, 1967-1994

Funny old world eh.

ANy reccomendations?

My Genertion by the Who.

really easy until the solos, which are not hard but will take practice to get down well enough to be recognized.

In this ska/reggae part there is no ranking for the catch 22's song
Also if you looking for some expert song for this category you could add Here's to life by Streetlighgt manifesto
Its a med-expert song but it's kinda really fast by moments
Edit : oops saw you dont want suggestions forget about the last part :P

Experimental/Core

The Fall of Troy - Semi Fiction - MD
The Fall of Troy - Whacko Jacko Steals the Elephant Man's Bones - MD

Both songs are very fun to play, in addition to F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X these songs really have some very awesome bass lines.

Ben and I have talked abit about this thread and I am going to close it for a bit. Nick, expect a PM from me by the end of today.

This thread is officially unlocked.

New rules. You can submit any songs for consideration, but please indicate genre and level of difficulty, to make it easier for Nick to classify your song in the "lists".

This thread is as good as you all can make it. So go out and make some good suggestions and make us proud.

Sliver - Nirvana EZ Grunge (I'd say it'd go under Punk, but you might choose Hard Rock, depending on your discretion)
It really is incredibly easy, the intro's just catchy enough that people would still want to learn it.
#105
classifies as hard rock, IMO.

punk is about making a great show with a wall of sound, grunge is about trying to stay a garage band as long as possible.

Alright. Also, I was thinking you should add Longview by Greenday. I'd label it as easy.

EZ Longview - Greenday Pop

I'm just guessing pop, I'm not sure what you'd call it.

How about some Dream Theatre? Maybe... progressive or metal, not sure which. Probably more prog.

MD/EX Panic Attack - Dream Theatre
#114
Five Magics - Megadeth

Ez-going on-Medium/Metal

There might be some double stops and chords in there if im not mistaken...

I just think that the bass line just after the intro is so hooky, it also looks and sounds quite impressive to play to non-bassists
#115
EZ - Reptilia - The Strokes - Punk
EZ - Gotta Get Away - The Offspring - Punk (maybe Hard Rock)
EZ - Holy Diver - Dio - Metal
EZ - Countdown to Extinction - Megadeth - Metal
(Holy Diver and Countdown to Extinction might be considered Classic Rock, seeing as they wouldn't be called metal by today's standards)

Sorry I can't submit more than easy songs, but I'd only label myself at medium, and my favorite songs are generally easier ones, that just have a catchier riff in them.
#116
MD - When I Come Around - Green Day - Punk/Rock

Great Song, great bassline, IMO. Fun to play too.
