bolt on necks are good for you so you can break the guitar

they are sometimes a good thing to have cos if u dropped a bolt on neck guitar and snapped the neck you could just bolt on a new one but if u snappthe neck of a les paul its screwed

"now, when i first started playing guitar, i went out and bought a guitar and i thought that was it! i later found out that you need an amp to play the electric guitar! and after that, i wanted to have different effects to sound like my favorite guitarists and so on. All of this could get very daunting for a beginner to get so what this company called line 6 did was, it put all of these things into one affordable amp called the Spider, so you get the whole package at a cheap price! here let me show you the different features......."

a convo i overheard. It was betweem an unsuspecting mom buying her son a Christmas present and a GC employee =(

I've said this before too though, because playing left handed severely limits your gear choices and makes it unnecessarily more expensive

I don't go to GC much. I really only go whenever we're passing I'm passing through some larger cities (which is never).
But, I wouldn't go there much anyways even if I had the option, there's some sweet privately owned stores near me that rawk.

GC Employee: So what type of music do you listen to???
Me: Alternative, Metal, etc.
GCE: Oh yeah???
(Takes the guitar I was playing from my hands, puts foot on stool, and tries to sweep.)
GCE: You should buy this guitar, IT ROCKS!!!!

He put down the Ibanez, I walked away to a different rep, and bought an Epiphone Plain Top without playing it.

"This Peavey [Windsor] is like a Marshall, but better"
me: "ORLY"
"Yeah, they took a Marshall and wired it backwards"
me: "...wut"
"They put the power tubes after the preamp so it's like the preamp is always on full gain"
me: "That's, um, that's nice." *backs away slowly*

Swear to god. To this day my friend and I joke about taking our amps apart and rewiring them - backwards - for better tone.

Elixer strings are 'designed' to go with Cole Clark guitars.

If I wasn't gonna buy Elixers anyway I would have bust a cap in your ass fool!

why the hell do these poeple try and palm cheap amps off to ya. i would be flogging the expensive stuff. i heard something pretty dodgy in this cool store which sells heaps of second hand gear and stuff you don't find anywhere else. these kids were playing on a guyatone amp i think it was. sort of looked like a silverface fender clone. one metalhead kid says "where is the distortion channel on this" to which the owner replies "up the road"...referring to the big chain music stores up the road. he then proceded to rant about kids not knowing the awsomeness of an open chord.

too many times i go there for strings and cables and they offer me the shop, even when i bought my PRS they still tried to sell me a Spider saying it was better than my Flextone...ahahaha......

i came to the conclusion if your an idiot they will hire you.

Or you could just string a guitar the other way...

This only works on an electric. On an acoustic the intonation would be off

Looking at a six-string Rickenbacker hanging on their vintage guitar wall, I told the guy I have a 12-string Rickenbacker at home and that I was surprised at how much the six-string on offer was.
He said this classic:
"Well, 12-string Rickenbackers are cheaper than the six string ones."
I walked away from him.

While I do love how my Windsor sounds...that comment is fail.

Most GC people just leave me be. I mean I'm not an amazing player, but I don't try to show off. I just test the gear, get what I need and leave. I've been pushed towards the Spiders and MGs like everybody else...but those are the best selling amps so of course they're gonna try and sell you one of those. One time I was playing a use 7-string bass they had for sale...and one of the employees came in and said "plays just like a 7-string guitar, doesn't it?' I just kept playing...

I bet what happened is someone told him; "Peavey reverse engineered the old Marshall designs to design the Windsor." Haha, moron.

I had met this girl who played bass and was quitting and she offered me her bass. I told her okay thinking she had a squier p bass knock off or something... She tells me that she had a Rick. Her dad caught her before she gave it to me

Anyway...

I had a conversation that went something like this with a guy behind the counter

Me: do you have any Tortex Jazz III's or are you out again like last week?
Clerk: No, but you can get these, they're totally the same (points at Fender Celluloid picks)
Me: No... those are made of a different material and are a different size.
Clerk: no way man, tortex and celluloid are the same thing!
