I heard that you can only ride a 125 in the UK until you're 21 (I'm 18), is this true? Also, how long will it take to get my 125 license in the UK? I already have my car license which took about 6 months, will it be that long? The main reason I want to do it is because I can't afford a car yet because of my shit job so I figured this might be a good idea.

I'm going to check out (and most likely buy) a 2001 Honda Shadow American Classic Edition tomorrow. I'll be commuting 400 miles a week on it, and am looking forward to it.

Movie called 'Wild Guitar' 1962...I saw it at the drive-in when I was 10 or so. wanted a guitar and motorcycle so bad.

Watch the first 2 minutes of this movie..(after the 20 second ad)

Combines motorcycles and guitars. I got my first Strat in 1971 and used to strap it to my Honda 350cc. Much freer world back then.

You younger folks have no idea what you missed out on.

Last 2 minute music is great (a Fender Jazzmaster and a motorcycle)

I'm more in to cruisers myself. I got my first one when I was 15. It was an 07 Honda VTX1300C then traded it at the beginning of this year for an 08 1300R in pearl white. It's got some problems though. Working on trying to get everything taken care of on it so I can trade it for an HD Road King, Fatboy, or Softail C.

First Bike New

Couple of years ago my dad got in a really bad motorcycle wreck and I had to do something to keep my mind off of how it looked like things could go.. Did some work.

Both of them side by side. Had done quit a few things to the C but all that's really noticeable in this is the fairing, luggage rack and sissy bar, and the crash bars

Me a couple of weeks ago. You can kind of see part of one of my dad's saddlebags to the left

Almost had one of these this week. It was kind of a piece of shit that needed some work done (new starter, new tank), but I would've relished it. Someone beat me to the punch. Oh, woe.

EDIT: Hey, "shit" isn't censored anymore. Funky.

^^ Dude, that is a SICK bike. I love cruisers because they're so damn comfortable. Can't wait to haul ass on the new Shadow ACE.

I haven't had a bike since the early 90's...that was a Yamaha dirt bike I used to access some remote geology work sites.

Glad you liked that clip. I remember lots of small dirt tracks that we used to ride on between towns.. like the one in the movie.

In the early 70's most bikes were more junk we worked on to keep on the road. Kids had had larger cc Triumphs, Nortons, Indians....lots of ex-military vehicles. A few newer Hondas and Yamahas but nothing over 350cc. Bikes were more like horses. Don't recall any buddies ever polishing them or worrying about dings, dents and so on. Half bald tires...brakes that 'usually' worked. Color usually 'dirt' with a bit of chrome. We needed registration but nobody had insurance.

Sometimes I'd have my girlfriend sit on the gas tank and my buddy behind me...and two guitars. Go figure. Somehow we all survived. Actually it's still like that if you look at films from Indonesia, Thailand and so on....they'll have the whole family and the shopping cruising through trraffic on two wheels.

To be young and stupid again, sigh.

I'm starting to miss my bike, it's been off the road since Friday with a punctured rear tyre. It's getting patched internally today however so it should be good to go tommorow.

I'm planning on doing some travelling around Europe next year and I'm thinking of getting a little bike for my transport. I'm thinking of maybe getting a Yamaha YBR125, does anyone know anything about this bike? Would this sort of bike be good for travelling?

Im working on my 1982 CB900 right now, getting it ready for the nice weather. I tested it out before I cleaned the carbs, I could hit 50mph in first gear at 9000rpm. Im excited to see what it can do with clean carbs.

This is my baby. I named her Frida. The only difference is that Frida is black rather than the reddish in the picture.
Some people just wanna watch the world burn. Wanna join me when I take my turn to pour the gas, light the match, see your world flip upside down and drop until it's inside out?

I think you'll want more than a 125 cc bike for significant travel. I ride a Ninja 650R (Kawasaki ER-6, in Europe). I think that, or something like it, would be a decent touring bike with some luggage.

I was looking at 125 cc bikes because I'm a beginner, plus I don't have too much money to throw around. What bikes other than the one you've already recommended would be good for me?

bought my bike last summer and it's sitting in the garage right now. The snow has finally melted from the roads and I'm so excited to get back on it. It's my first bike and I went big.

2007 GSX-R1300 Hayabusa Black with red Kanji Decals. Can't find any pics of it in my folders on this comp so I'll just post this one from the internets for now..

**edit the top speed is electronically limited to 300kph (186mph) and I've only had it up that fast once but holy **** is it a rush. Also since it can do 0-100kph (0-60mph) in about 2.7 seconds I only race other bikes..

These nouns are often used with a form of "to be" rather than "to have," e.g., "he is pwnage" rather than "he has pwnage". Either is a more emphatic way of expressing the simpler "he pwns,"

Why? Because, dirtbike.

Mine's an 05 though, this is an 08. Mine's also all-stock except I might mount the Dunlop Geomaxs that I bought last summer for my dirtbike since the forks are busted.

Reading through this thread again makes me sad. You Europeans get all the good shit when it comes to low displacement stuff.

Anyway, tomorrow or sometime later this weekend I'm probably heading a couple of towns over to buy a 1979 Honda CM185T Twinstar.

It's a pussy little 185 but it'll be great for a first bike, just going around town and going to school and such. Probably come back and post some vintage bike pronz if I can get it.

you could go with a much higher displacement than a 185, my first was a 450 nighthawk and that barely lasted me a year.

on another note I got my CB900C back today from the shop, even though it was pissing rain I have not been that happy in a long time.

Oh, I know. Funny you mention the Nighthawk 450, I've come pretty close to buying a couple of Nighthawks of the 250 and 450 variety. I'm just getting a really kickass deal on this Twinstar.

I rode a nighthawk 250 for my BRC, and then decided to get a 450. 450 has enough balls to be fun when you first start off, but when you ride a 900 a few times, you just feel like its gutless in comparison.
