It is, just not of the particularly good variety IMO.

Saw them on their way out and it was pretty fun.

TBH, I like their melodic songs

Has anybody here ever listened to Noisear?

Not an everyday listen for me, but they're nuts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVLsvId4MCQ

I think they are playing at scion rock fest or whatever? Or is that over already? I know Bryan Fajardo drums for them: the guy also plays drums for Gridlink, and really slays his kit ahahah, it's just surgically savage

I had never heard of them before, but they're not bad. I'll probably check out the rest of that album.

The closest I come to truly loving Grindcore is the first The Red Chord album and I'm pretty sure that's not straight up Grind.

C'mon man you gotta check out Terrorizer's "After World Obliteration", Magrudergrind's self-titled album, and "prowler in the yard" by pig destroyer. If you don't like grind after those, there's no hope for you liking grind

Thoughts on Discordance Axis?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHgKkPfdBkg

Downloading their album Jouhou now. These guys are a bit more technical than most Grindcore acts.

I always thought Discordance were alright. the technicality doesn't bother me so much as the singer's screams. I always preferred lower to midrange stuff than shrieks. I do dig his new group Gridlink a little bit more for some reason

I wasn't saying the technicality was bad, merely bringing it up since most Grindcore bands aren't very technical. That's not good or bad. It just is.

This is quite good. I'll have to check out more of their work.

Gridlink has been my favourite metal band for years. They play songs with an unmatched degree of intensity. "Amber Gray", their debut, is the art on my avatar:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGCr-rZ8wFQ

I saw on their facebook that they may be playing their last show in Japan soon :/ Their new one "Longhena", is still coming out in the fall I think, not sure at all about if they are continuing as a recording project afterwards though

Discordance Axis is a lot more claustrophobic, negative, bleak sounding. "Jigsaw" is my favourite song from them. The way the drums shift around the repetitive guitar motif halfway through the song gives it so much room and dynamics. It's almost uplifting and optimistic... it's pretty much the only moment in DxAx's discography where they come close to sounding like that so it really is something beautiful.

Well, I really like stuff I've heard from both bands. When I get paid, I'm gonna buy a few of their albums. If anyone has any other recommendations like these bands, I'd much appreciate it, btw.

Anaal are Grind?

Well add them to the very short list of Grindcore bands I like.

Hayaino Daisuki: Jon Chang (vocals) and Takafumi Matsubara (guitar, songwriter) from Gridlink playing throwback speedthrash with 105% intensity. Pretty much Gridlink minus the grind and more thrash and melodic and harmonized riffs.

Jon and Matsubara can do no wrong

Not sure if you guys are hip to it, but J Randall from Agoraphobic Nosebleed's label Grindcore Karaoke releases ridiculous, but very underground Grindcore/Powerviolence/Noise for free download. Check it here

http://grindcorekaraoke.com/

Personal favorites are Gigantic Brain, Water Torture, and Mother Brain

I haven't bothered with Agoraphobic Nosebleed, but I'll take a gander.

I think it's fucking awesome they have the Marion Barry/Actuary split though!

Personally, I only ever got into Agoraphobic's split with Despise You, but you don't need to be into them to get into the label's shit
