FUCK! I won't have any school anymore by then and my army service doesn't begin until January 2012, so if I can get some sort of job and grab enough money, I might very well find myself there!

Missed Manilla Road's gig here 2 years ago due to being still underage back then......

I was just listening to Gates of Fire for the first time today. My mind is blown! I might like it more than Voyager, which I also thought was phenomenal. Shelton's lead guitar work is just stellar. Manilla Road never disappoints. Great, great album!

I still need to get familiar with some of the later stuff - I hear its just as great though!

I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

Everything Manilla Road is great, honestly. How Mark Shelton manages to churn out amazing albums time after time after time is one of life's greatest mysteries.

I had no idea that its a different vocalist on Spiral Castle...he was picked because of his ability to mimic Shelton!

He's been doing the main vocals since Atlantis Rising, aye. Their vocals are so similar it's uncanny! However if you listen closely you can figure out when Shelton's singing on those records.

A clip of a track off the new album:

I'm almost afraid to say this, but this is underwhelming. Especially the vocals leave much to be desired. Will this be the first average Manilla Road record? I surely hope not, and in the end I doubt it, but this preview baffles me in its mediocrity.

Well, they had some less interesting albums and then came back with Mark of the Beast, which was an amazing album in my opinion. One can always hope.

Any long running band is bound to run out of ideas at some point.
But... it's Manilla Road, they never make bad albums

Mark Of The Beast was recorded in 1981 though, so they hardly "came back with" it. What are these less interesting albums you're talking about? Post-Mystification stuff?

It was? I'm sorry for my ignorance, I just thought it was recorded in 2002.

Indeed, I meant the stuff after Mystification. I'll still stand by my statement, because stuff like Atlantis Rising was significantly better.
#99
Gates of Fire and Voyager are soooooo good though.. Those are the only 2 post-Mystification ones I have listened to...yet.

I think they should have made the artwork to look less animated. Perhaps just more detail.

Alright, I got some news.

I sent an e-mail to HRR asking about possible future Manilla Road reissues, and this was the answer:
Hi Kimmo,

every Manilla Road album will be rereleased through my label during the next 12 months

Cheers
Steffen

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.
