Which one's your favourite? And what genre is that song, it's sort of pop in a classical or whatever you call it style. Like Phantom of the Opera, that's not really opera is it, what genre is that?

+1 It's actually pretty obvious,

Out of all songs covered the only 2 i ever say is better than the original is Johnny Cash - Hurt and Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah, Korn - Word Up, Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin, Jeff Buckley - I Know It's Over, Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower

Fixed.

I agree. I prefer both his voice and the piano oh-so-much more than to anyone else's version - even the original!

Wouldn't that depend on the version, though? I guess you could always take the easy way out and just call it "singer-songwriter" or something.

For me Jeff Buckley's version is the best out there, even though it's based on John Cale's version. Buckley, like Eva Cassidy, was one of the few artists able to make a cover better than the original. The only covers I can think of that are better than the original are: All Along The Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix, Hurt by Johnny Cash, and Mad World by Gary Jules.

^^Yea, I'm gonna agree with him, Leonard Cohen's version is my favorite. But Jeff Buckley's is a close second of course.

I prefer the original. By far.
Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offended
For I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own shit.

The original is the best, imo. Then again, I have no idea who else did it.
