Well damn.. haven't posted here in ages so I'm gonna ramble a bit..

I'm upgrading a Maton MS500 and I'm after some opinions for new pickups.
Right now in my box of options are...

Bridge

SD SH-4
SD SH-6
Dimarzio tone zone

Neck

SD SH-2
Dimarzio Air Norton
Bareknuckle Holy Diver (big maybe)

Seems like a pretty standard bunch of choices so far. I play blues and hard rock ..on the verge of metal on many occassions (a fair bit of fuzz use too). Think Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, The Cure, Santana.

Any suggestions for each position? These matons have a feel and tone more like a LP than anything, although much lighter. I can't actually play with any of these pickups except the SH-4 which is in a few instore guitars so I'm unsure about output levels.

Some further viewing...

Don't touch the Tone Zone with a barge pole, completely off beam for you.

If you want Dimarzios either go Norton (not Air Norton) bridge, Humbucker from Hell neck for versatility and amazing cleans, a pair of Breeds for thick, fat, creamy warm tones or perhaps a Super Distortion bridge, Breed neck if you want a little less compression and a more open, classic tone in the bridge.

Would there be noticable output differences with a Norton bridge/HfH neck combo or are the high and medium sets made to work well together?

Nothing that can't be resolved by balancinng the pickup heights.
