I've been playing electric guitar for about 2 years now and I can say that I'm not half bad playing the guitar, but what I really want to learn is how to improvise and make my own rifts, I've come up with a few kinda good ones by sheer luck of random strumming, but I want to learn how to really improvise

Where should I start with this?

No, you should learn theory, pentatonic scales, and a lot of chords. It helps so much knowing these things when making a solo or a riff.

Scales, scales, and more scales. Also, being creative can help, and experimenting.

Learn the pentatonic scales and the theory behind them. Learn some solos that use these scales for practice and then try improvising over them

I did that yesterday, I made myself a boat load of good sounding riffs instead of my usual stupid ones.

Im probably in the same spot as u but ive onli been playing for a bit more than a year. Im all self study but no theory just yet. All i could say is scales and use some of the lead/ riffs you've learned and try to adapt it (e.g. different keys, etc...)

To be honest i'd start out with a rhythm you like, then incorperate that into the notes. Otherwise you'll just get dun, dun, dun, dun all the time, it really helps to have a nice rhythm and flow to define and make your riffs noticeable!
