I have been wanting to get emg pickups on my strat for a while now but i dont know if its right. David Gilmour can do it but I'm not sure that would fit me.

I play metal, rock, hard rock, and clasical rock.

Heck I dont even know that this is the right thread for The Pit.

Please help me.

Please don't do EMG's in a strat. I cringe everytime I see it.

If you want david gilmour, I'd reccomend some seymour duncans.

EMG's aren't very advantageous unless you've got a tube amp, keep in mind...
Standard Strat
Jackson WRMG
Parker DF724

Axe-Fx Standard
Carvin DCM1000L

Mesa Trad. Slant Recto 4x12 (UK V30s)
Custom Horiz. 2x12 (Commonwealth 12s)

But they apparently suck the tone out of anything, so it shouldn't really matter what guitar you put them in?

I think Seymour Duncan would be a better fit for your style.

Yeah SD is a good idea im listening to some of the sound bites they sound great.

Im thinking either the hot rails or the quarter pound flat pickups

The only EMGs I like are the Gilmour set. Their purpose though is specifically to cut out hum when you play in a huge British rock band with a big laser light show. Since that isn´t me I will stay away from EMGs.

even david himself said that the tone wasn't the best out of the EMG's, but he had to do something about the hum with all of his stage lighting.

I would go with either seymour duncans or look into the Lindy Fralin Woodstock '69 Pickups.
