my band has to play with this other group, and we have to use their gear. we play hard rock, they use a fender deluxe reverb and a vox AC15. so, we have to find pedals. the only ones any of us own is;
1-boss metalcore. i've tried it a couple times, we'll be able to make it work
2-digitech rp90. our other guitarist plays it through an SS and hates it, will it sound acceptable? we're gonna try it through my marshall this weekend, to get an idea..but does anyone think this is a terrible idea? can it work?

If you're going to use it for any type of distortion, don't use it. Some channels, if edited on your computer, can sound good but IMO it's not ideal for gigging. I'll admit the Acoustic setting is really impressive, but anything remotely brutal on that pedal is just bad.

The Metalcore will work, certainly better than any distortion settings on the RP90...
