I've had a Marshall Vibratrem (Tremolo/Vibrato pedal) for about 3 months now, and for some reason, when I switch the effect on, the sound doesn't change. When it was working properly there was always a slight boost in volume when the effect was on (I assume that's normal right?), and it still does that when I turn the effect on, but the actual sound of the guitar doesn't change. Anyone why this is happening or what can be done to fix it?

battery is the obvious one.

there will only be a slight volume change if you've not set the level right, the level should be set so there is as close to 0 volume change when you turn it on (unless you specifically want a volume change)

EDIT: ignore that there is no level on a vibratrem
