Title says it all. I'd have to go to Pittsburgh's GC to try out the LP, whereas the Michael Kelly is conveniently located up the road in Charleston.

Budget is $500-800. I play Nirvana, Zeppelin, Cream, Floyd, Hendrix, Tool, Queens of the Stone Age...yeah lots of stuff, mostly classic rock and some newer hard rock/metal.

The Patriot Custom is more of a boutique guitar, so no that common. I've never played it so I can't say how it sounds, however I can tell you that Gibson's quality control has slipped a little, and that you may be better getting off a Standard if you can afford it, but then again try a Studio and see how you like it. When you go up to the GC try some others, something from PRS, perhaps something from Gretsch, Parker, or the Yamaha SBG1000.
