Ok, so my iPod Touch 2nd-gen is being completely non-responsive. On Wednesday night, before I went to bed, I put on the iPod Flashlight app, in case I needed a flashlight later that night, then I put it on hold and went to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up, and pressed the unlock button. But instead of the "Slide to Unlock" screen appearing, the bright white screen of the flashlight app appeared. Now, my iPod is stuck on that. I let the battery drain by leaving the iPod on, then this morning before work, plugged it into my computer. As soon as it received power again, the same blank white screen appeared. I even updated the software to 3.0, and then hit the restore button which brings it back to factory defaults, by removing all settings and media (including the Flashlight app), but it still only has that white screen.

How do I fix this?

Btw, this is the screen to which I refer.

Pat_s1EDIT:

There is no Apple Store within hundreds of miles of me, so don't suggest taking it to the store. Just saying.

Take it to the apple store.
GENIUS BAR to the rescue!

I had a similar problem with mine, took it in, told them my problem...Voilà! Brand new ipod.

Yours should still be under warranty too, as the 2gs haven't been out that long.

Edit: out of curiosity, what flashlight app did you use?

Idk what it was, but it was free...

Also, what's this Apple Store you speak of? You realize I live 700km across a dirt road from the closest MCDONALD's, let alone anything fancy like an Apple Store.

I'm no expert but throwing it in the bin and buying a superior product sounds like it could work.

You're best off asking guys who actually know a little about them.

I has tried that, it does not work for me in this instance.

Hold it for 5 mins. (MENU and HOLD)

It works, trust me.

Didn't work...

My iPod actually came in handy tonight though. I used it as a flashlight to find my way through a woodland trail when me and two buds had to...erm...evade arrest?

Well, have you tried this thread https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=884233&page=1&highlight=ipod+thread or the FAQs/support forum on http://www.apple.com/support/ ?

Also, may I suggest plugging it into your computer for a while, then disconnecting it and seeing if it reverts back to the menu? Or plugging it in and restoring it to factory settings? (Although this will get rid of all the stuff on it, so you'd need to get the music off it first if you don't have it somewhere else)

Everything in bold I have already tried. I should ask Apple though, I can't believe I didn't think of that in the first place.
