I'm Now very interested in the Line 6 POD Studio UX-1. With this, will I be able to record and layer tracks, or is it's only function to allow your computer to work as an amp?
I have the older model; the Toneport UX1 and its fantastic. It comes with Ableton Live Lite which is a recording program, but I just use Audacity instead.

So yes, you can record with the UX1, but the interface itself doesn't actually do the recording. You need to use a separate program to record. Basically you plug your guitar into the interface and plug the interface into the computer (after installing everything) and then open up either Gearbox or POD Farm, which enable you to shape your sound using amp and effect models. Then if you want to record, just open up a recording program and you're good to go.

Back on track, thanks for your answer. Gonna start saving for that POD now.
