my parents never let me hang out with my friends even school work there is like a 1000 questions before they let you out of the house and when it comes to band practice it is also like that

hard one as technically until you can afford to make your own way and get the f**k out, a lot of parents believe they own you and you have no say because they automatically know better...

i would personally say, well if i had strict parents, i would just tell them to go f**k themselves, this is what i'm doing, what exactly are you going to do to stop me...

but then i had an incredibly relaxed upbringing and actually i was probably a lot more mature in some ways than my parents from an early age, and was always allowed on my own since i was 12/13, and had a free reign so long as i let them know where i was and when i was going to be home..

edit: to actually give you advice, if they are being unreasonable the best thing you can do is play they're game, and try and make them think they're doing good, make them think its their decision your going out, and when you do go out show your responsible, let em know where you are and stuff, basically follow their rules and see where it gets you...

Walk into the house with a joint in your mouth a skanky ho on your arm and looking like you've not slept for weeks, i think they'll get the gist.

or just talk to them about it, tell them that you need your privacy.

Earn their trust by not doing anything stupid when they DO let you go out, and soon they'll give you some leeway.

At the same time some parents, especially those from Asia, simply refuse to Westernise (why emigrate then huh?) so hate to sound like an asshole but if you don't bend their rules a bit (ie sneak out, don't always get their permission it's your life) you will end up like every stereotypical foreigner who never integrates and is always excluded.

Mine aren't really strict, just control, and i just them hate them passionately from the inside for the their stupid nuerose's. And i basically do what i ****ing want anyway, and if they have a problem with that, then damn right ill tell them
#9
Depends on how your parents are about it. If they're actually concerned about what you're doing, then they probably should be.

On the other hand, I know parents who really need a good "Shut the **** up" to give them a little wake up call. Sometimes you just have to rebel to get the point across that you could be a much worse kid if they keep it up.

That will probably work in fairy-land but sadly irrational controlfreaks are still irrational controlfreaks even if you earn their trust somehow =/

The key is attrition and verbal examinations of their - I'm assuming - fears of you going out. Have a talk to them where you examine why they are so afraid, did something happen to them when they are younger, are they watching (fox) news and thinking all bad things happen if you go out? Over a longer period of time you might break them down.

When they ask what you're doing say you're gonna go smoke weed and screw hookers and you stole some cash from your moms purse. Then just get out of the house for a few hours.

really though, if youve been a pretty good kid up to now then they have no real reason to be douches.

what you do is mess with their heads, let them know youre not really out doing that stuff... by pretending you are. just jokes yo

same problem.

I have older parents (late 50s and early 60s) and I am 16.
my parents wont let me ride with anyone in a car other than adults,
If I want to go anywhere other than like my 2 best friends houses then they are suspicious out their ass.
If I go somewhere overnight my parents will be calling at 10 or 11 the next morning saying they are on their way to come pick me up.

I dunno what the hell to do.

Rebel a bit, you know. blast some Lamb of God or Slayer in your room, play your guitar really loud, and get a sluty girlfriend.

If that doesnt do something, unleash the fockin fury on them like ywngie malmsteen

My parents trust me. It might be because I practically never leave the house anyway, and when I do, I'm most likely at the music store or checking out guitars somewhere.

I'll tell them to be more strict once I find friends.

Common wisdom says put up with it until you're old enough to move out/you're away at college or university.

But knowing how it feels, here's what I did to get away when I needed to:

"I'm going skateboarding"

Can't exactly stay in one spot if you're skateboarding. Plus, it's exercise and you're spending your time outside. And you can skateboard to wherever your friends are and just chill with them instead if you want to.

"I'm meeting this girl"

Even better if it turns out to be true. If you're a girl though and try this with a guy, your dad might go ape****.

Tell your parents that sheltered children NEVER turn out right, and they're only damaging your future. It's healthy to socialize like a normal teenager. Get them to understand this and learn to trust you.

Good luck.

i have strict parents as well, so i know where you're coming from.
the best thing to do is to just deal with it.
don't try to fight it because in the end, they're the parents..and they can ground your ass. that would mean no more band practice..no more friends..you get the picture.

you wont appreciate what they are doing until youre 25 with a college degree nice house and nice car. Honestly the chances of you making it big w/ your band are slim and none, same goes for any HS athelete going pro as well. I mean enjoy your music but keep it in perspective and dont waste thier money on a liberal arts degree go into engineering or computer science. I wish I listened. The guys hanging out all night wasted banging thier gf's are probably losers now.

just roll with it. my mother is just as strict and just as unreasonable at times and it's been 18 years and still she calls me up to play 21 questions whenever i'm out with friends.

trust me when i say, you can't change it and you will never escape it. all you can do is humor your parents and go along with their wishes, in the end it'll make them happy and you'll probably get to go where you want to go.

luckily for me, my dad is a bit wiser than my mom and knows that if i go to the movies with a kid i've been friends with 8 years....i'm certainly not shooting heroine or snorting coke, so he doesn't bother as much with me when i'm out, he'll only ask me what i'll do beforehand. my mother on the other hand loves to call up and make sure i'm still sober, even after she's interrogated me on what my night's festivities are

Quote by janneli561

that might be true in most cases, but for me i couldn't say it is. my parents ae pretty strict when it comes to going out and because of this i'm 18 and i've been to very few parties (which i had to lie to to go of course) i never really had the freedom (until very recently) to go out as i wished which caused me to remain single, my parents never wanted me to go out with anyone they hadn't previously met...as you can see that would cause huge problems for me. anyway, it was always a struggle to go out, so tedious that i wouldn't even try and i would make due with what i had at home. most other kids would complain and argue with their parents to let them go out constantly, but after i realized that arguing was fruitless...i would just decline invitations to parties and whatnot to avoid the argument. now of course for the last 1 and a half years or so, they've let up on their chains, but i still find it hard to do what i please because they still love to look over my shoulders.
