Ok, i only have enough money for one guitar. I like the look of sg's, so i want an epiphone since its in my price range. I also really want a tremelo because i play a lot of satch type stuff.
So my question is, is there a way for me to buy an epiphone and have a tremelo installed later, even though it has a tune-o-matic bridge,

I really doubt it, but i know nothing about that stuff

It is possible, but not really worth it. Just get a guitar that has a floyd on it already.

maybe not like a floyd, but with a good nut and locking tuners, it might stay pretty stable. but it isn't made for hardcore wankage.

Agile, I think they make a SG with a floyd, but I'm too lazy to check.

if you paid someone to install a floyd and touch up the paint under the floyd, it would cost you more than the guitar. so thats pretty much out of the question unless you want to build an sg with a floyd from scratch. I'm guessing that your not a builder tho.

its not possible to put it on an SG, not a gibby anyway. too thin. i've checked. least my SG aint thick enough. though if you do one that surface mounts such as a stetsbar or the others that were described would work. but a floyd, no.

you can do a floyd I think although I'm just guessing here. you just cant do a recessed floyd. there are ways around everything. you can grind down the block and use smaller springs. people have thought of this before and there are special floyd clones that are made to fit thin guitars. you just have to look.

floyd in a SG has already been discussed here

in that thread someone says
The only trem job that I've seen on an SG that wasn't a Bigsby and didn't change how the guitar sounded was a guy that used a Fender '83/'84 Strat tremolo. These tremolos... if you know what I'm talking about... Mount under the pickups without having to route all the way through the body.
