I covered a song called Have It Your Way by Mudvayne and put up a bass only version on my profile.

I'm trying to get that clankiness Ryan Martinie has, but it kinda sounds like fart. Second opinion?

its not bad man, pretty close...you might be mixing up the bass tone with the clickyness of the bass drum
btw **** yeah martinie

well, you're close...
when you go into the higher strings, it sounds much more like his tone...try this...

Max out your Eq on your bass...(the corvette STD, i presume)
Run a flat EQ on w/e you're recording through
and adjust the gain to compensate for the added boost from the bass.

^all of Ryan's tone is from his bass and boosted mid section (Thumb's have great midrange)
Notice the difference in Pulling the String on Lost and Found...During the Intro/Chorus, his tone is clicky and high, leaving no warmth...but the verse, is all midrange...if you isolate his tone in the verse, it sounds like a loudspeaker...growling and warm.
