So for as long as I've been playing I've generally used down picking only, very rarely using alt. picking. It's now a terrible habit, and I think it's slowing me down. My down picking speed is quite fast, but alt. picking I get very inaccurate. Any exercises/tips for developing speed and accuracy? Also, I could use some just general finger speed tips and exercises.

C'mon, man. We're just kidding. We all know that drummers are important.

After all, without drummers, who would bag my groceries?
