I was going back and forth between Billy Hyde and Gallins Guitars today, trying to make up my mind. It was a tough choice, but I knew I had to make a decision.

Multi effects… or single effects…

After about an hour of going through the pros/cons of each, walking between the different shops, trying out multi’s at Billy Hyde, and singles at Gallins, I finally reached my decision. I decided to go down the route of single effect pedals.

In the end, I walked away with a brand new pedal. Heres some pics.

Electro-Harmonix Small Clone Chorus.
I find it works best on my neck pickup, as my bridge pickup is a bit too bright. The last picture is my favourite setting so far, although Im bound to find another that takes its place. (Any suggestions, feel free)

Also, ill just chuck this in, I finished my Epiphone upgrades or whatever you want to call them. Ive transformed my Epi LP Studio into (what I think) looks like the older Les Pauls. I did stuff up, but not very badly, only marks are on the back, near where the neck meets the body. Don’t ask me how I stuffed up there, I didn’t even change anything around the back.

I was looking for new pickups for it aswell, but instead, I swapped my Tone Zone out of my Ibanez, and into the LP and it did wonders. I know have a bridge capable of great lead tones, and the stock neck pickup can do quite good classic rock tones and cleans, so Im set. Tell me what you think. (Also, does anyone know anywhere I can buy either a blank truss rod cover or one that says Custom, In Australia if possible.)

That is a gorgeous guitar you have there and I've always been a big fan of EHX. I have a Tone Zone in one of my guitars and I love it too. Hope we hear some clips from you using your new gear.

Yeah thanks, I might need to do that.

If I get the job I'm going for in a few hours, there will be plenty of pedals coming in the near future.
(tennis coaching, pays $17.50 an hour, which ain't half bad for a 15 year old.)
Wish me luck!

Also, what are your opinions on the EHX holy Grail?
Is the Holy Grail Plus worth the extra dollars?

Holy Grail Plus is definitely worth the extra. It doesn't have a lot of the Holy Grail's problems. I have one, and I like it, but a lot don't.

Good luck. This is one of the coolest things I've read in this forum in forever. Tennis coach! What a cool a$$ freaking job man.

Congrats on the Small Clone and the LP. It would look even more original if you put covers on your pickups.

cool pedal

now mod it

What mods can you do on the Small Clone...I'm interested...

HNPD + NModD!
#14
Yeah, I'm quite interested in the mods myself. The tremelo mod looks great, and also looks fairly easy to do.

I might buy some covers and put them on, thanks for the idea.

Any songs suggestions that showcase the chorus? Sorry, I don't know many myself.

I believe that you can mod them to have a depth control as well as some others.

Thanks again guys.

Can anyone tell me some good songs to showcase the chorus?

And any suggestions for reverbs better than the Holy Grail?
Im looking into the Dr Scientist Radical Red Reverberator, any others?

there is a store about half way between gallins and billy hyde which is called sydney guitar setups or something like that. they sell heaps of stuff to customise your guitar. did you go into global vintage which is also in between those stores? they have by far the best selection of pedals i have ever seen and you can normally get the pedals for a much better price then at billy hyde or gallins.

HNPD by the way.

No, I went to the Billy Hyde in Melbourne, not Sydney. Do those stores you mentioned have websites you know of?
