I always hate being up this late...and not being able to sleep. I have something on my mind that is keeping me from sleeping, and stressing me out a ton. Does anyone else ever face this situation? What helps?

Serious answers, please. I'm not gonna drink myself to sleep or anything.

Ohh boyo. How could you even doubt?

I generally try as hard as I can to think about pleasant things, you could also make a conscious effort to breathe deeply and hence reduce your heart rate. After keeping that up for a few minutes I usually sleep soon after... you've gotta figure out what works for you, though.

I fall asleep for the night as soon as I lay on my bed. I hate it.

Go for a walk while listening to Bob Marley.

Settles your mind like magic.
There will probably be a signature here at some point.

Try watching television laying down. If your watching a show or a movie you may be interested but as soon as a commercial comes on I usually turn away from it and fall asleep. For some reason its easier than to be in my bed for me at least.

Im a psych major, they told me the best way to get rid of worry problems/stress is to consiously take half an hour a day where you can ONLY worry. Rest of the day you gotta save up your worrying and stress for that half an hour. Give it a try.

Jerk off and then listen to a song called Hatredcoptrer. Oh wait, I mean listen to Too Many Humans. No, nevermind, listen to both. You'll have the prettiest Night Terrors.

Metal. I don't listen to metalish music very often, but if I need to sleep, or I'm tired, I listen to some metal. It just puts me at peace, and I can't explain it. I am not insulting metal, I ****ing love Dream Theater (I don't even know what genre they are) but it always helps me sleep. Or some guitar like Knopfler, really soothes.
I love Foxy Shazam more than you.

get a playist or set of albums or songs or something that's for the most part the same... volume sort of but not exactly what i'm looking for. something that's the same level of dull roar. not exactly monotonous or unchanging music, just music that doesn't change much dynamically. Like Beethoven's 9th would be a horrible choice, but maybe alot of dark tranquility. it doesn't even matter what genre, doesn't even matter how loud or heavy it is. So long as there aren't well spread sudden changes that are going to jerk you back into reality suddenly or cause you to think consciencely.

put it at just the right volume, not loud, just loud enough that you can hear all the parts for the most part and low enough to where it almost sounds like it's off in the distance when you're laying down.

then just concentrate on that dull roar and let everything else fade away.

Along with Lamb of God & Unearth, those are favourite bands. I didn't mean musically boring.

I must be quite strange because my theory is that kind of music is so loud & aggressive that it clouds my mind so that I can't think and am forced to fall asleep .
