At the minute I have a Peavey Bandit 112 & I play an Agile Interceptor 727 w/ EMG707's.
I was thinking about getting a tube amp, but I don't think I'd have enough money to get a decent one!
So was thinking about getting a pedal or two, & was wondering if a Tubescreamer would do me any good?
Suggest some things, or give new ideas!
Reccommend some cheap, yet good, tube combo's??
Thanks

the bandit is solid state, and EMGs are active, not a good combination, EMGs dont like SS.

id say get something like epi valve junior, or vox AC4.

Epiphone Hummingbird
Epiphone Futura Custom Prophecy (Twin EMG)
Vox Valvetronix VT20+
Vox Wah
Boss MD-2
Danelectro Cool Cat Drive

No.

Considering you have a guitar with EMGs, I'm assuming you play metal of some sort. I'd look at B-52 AT series and Valvekings.

As far as pedals go, A tubescreamer would be nice if you need a boost to push more distortion. I'd also look at Wahs and delays.

Yeah, forgot to say I play metal!
& was thinking about a Valveking, but I think I'd probably have to sell my bandit for a little more money & I don't have much space in my house.
Which would mean I'd be using it for home practise, but I also need it for band practise & hopefully soon, small gigs!

B-52 is far more metal oriented then a Valveking. Even after modding it, the B-52 will still do metal better. Bugera 62xx and the B-52 AT are the two cheapest high gain tube amps. There's also the Peavey Vypyr Tube 60, but you'll probably wanna screw a piece of plywood to the back.

The B-52 looks pretty good!
Would it be good for stuff like Fear Factory, Unearth & Lamb Of God?
Also, would it be okay if shipped to the UK?? (condition-wise, wouldn't get smashed up on its travels?!)

as far as ive found, no where that stocks B-52s ships to the UK.

and they wouldnt work over here anyway, theyre designed to be used at US mains voltage not EU mains voltage

its a bit i know but i went through the same disappointment.

First thing you need to buy is an EQ pedal.

TS your in the UK like me, so i can share this with you...

go on Ebay and look for the Biyang EQ pedal.

the 10 band one with LEDs on it.

its a hi-quality MXR copy (basically) for £50!

Epiphone Futura Custom Prophecy (Twin EMG)
Vox Valvetronix VT20+
Vox Wah

also, to make a valveking even begin to sound good, it needs...

COMBO - speaker change, tube change, transformer change (best off to)

HEAD: tube change, transformer change, modding of the gain/distortion/lead circuitry.

I was thinking about an EQ pedal, but I've heard that tube amps generally sound better than solid states anyway, so was thinking that would be the best choice

EDIT: OR... Would it be a good move for me to get one of the Bugera combos??
