Be sure to be able to recite at least one Shakespeare quote before and after each song.

Out loud, or in your head, it's up to you.

blackstar HT-5, I'm a newb so my opinion doesn't count for much, but I picked up the combo for $360 when GC was having their 15% off sale and it sounds awesome to me.

you don't need 100watts of tube unless you're playing some arenas. or unless you want high volume cleans. are you getting this for gigging? and if so, what size of gigs?

Yeah, I do some gigs, mostly small-medium auditoriums, quite often large outdoor areas.

You really only need a few watts to get by at any show that the amp your bringing you paid for out of pocket. In other words, get a <30 watt amp now, have it mic;d and when you are playing large enough venues to require something more you should be endorsing some product. I know it's tempting to get a huge $1500 100 watt head and cab to match but really you can do most gigs with a 5-30 watt tube amp. Plus, it's less to lug around / worry about.
