Hey guys, I've never really attempted sharpening a pick, and my current black Jazz III is getting a little dull. What are some good ways to go about sharpening it up a bit?

The only way I know of is using sand paper.

Buy a new one, it's far easier!

I find Jazz IIIs to not be particularly sharp in the first place, but I love the feel of them overall. I have some new ones in the little bag still.

I also can't find my sandpaper...

Then buy sandpaper and use a new one in the meantime.

Sometimes, the local guitar store only has Jazz IIIs in round tip, so I can understand your pains.

Sandpaper would work best, I think. I've used super fine grit with good success. If you've got a smooth file around, that could work. A bastard or coarse file would probably eat the pick up.

this can be done with ease! All you have to do is drag your pick across some carpet (short is preferable) and it works like a dream
I do it all the time so i don't have to keep money from going out the door

The tortex pics sharpen up nice if you rub them fast on carpet. Cleans all the edges and they feel new.

Less than a dollar... a 6 pack is like $4.

I buy in bulk - I think it's 24 for $10.

Regardless, picks are dirt cheap. Sharpening them is weird, IMO.
